The long-awaited opening of the Metropolis Mall in Larnaca is postponed again. This time for September 2021.
On Saturday, July 24, the management of the first shopping center in the city announced that they had decided to postpone the completion date of the facility from the end of July due to the unstable epidemiological situation in Cyprus and, in particular, the rapid spread of the Delta strain.
An additional reason was the fact that dozens of foreign investors and businessmen who rented stores in the Metropolis Mall will not be able to attend the official opening of the shopping center.
As a reminder, the investor of the Metropolis Mall project is Acsion Group.
The developer operates on the African continent. The Metropolis Mall in Larnaca is the group's first project outside Africa. A new shopping center is being built next to the GSZ stadium and the military unit. Acsion Group leased the land for the shopping center from the Metropolis of Citium of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus for 33 years, with the possibility of extending it two more times for the same periods.
The approximate cost of land lease is estimated from 11 million euros to 13.5 million euros for the entire period, taking into account inflation. As for the project, the investor had to increase the costs of its implementation by 10%. he decision was made to create two roundabouts that will facilitate the customers' journey to the shopping center, as well as a road that will connect Griva Digeni and George Christodoulides streets in the area.
The total cost of the project exceeded 80 million euros.
It is known that 138 stores will open in the Metropolis Mall, which has an area of 39 thousand m2.
In addition to hundreds of boutiques of famous brands, it will house a supermarket, a cinema, restaurants and cafes, entertainment venues and children's playgrounds. About 1.4 thousand people will get jobs in the shopping center.
