The gradual launch of Paralimni Marina in eastern Cyprus will be marked by one of the most important Orthodox Christian feasts. On Epiphany Day, 6 January 2026, a ceremony of the Blessing of the Waters and the immersion of the Holy Cross will take place on the grounds of the new marina. The event will be conducted by the Metropolis of Constantia and Famagusta, with the Minister of Justice and Public Order attending on behalf of the government. The choice of Paralimni Marina as the venue for the Theophany celebrations in the free part of the Famagusta district is highly symbolic and highlights the importance of the project for the entire region.
The festive program will continue with performances by folklore groups, and guests will be treated to traditional Cypriot sweets. The event is expected to attract not only residents of Paralimni and Deryneia, but also visitors from other parts of the island, becoming the first large-scale public event held on the site of the future marina.
Construction Works Enter the Final Stage
At the beginning of 2026, the Paralimni Marina project is entering a decisive phase. By the end of 2025, the main port works had been fully completed, and attention is now focused on the installation of floating pontoons and the launch of key services. The mooring structures are being manufactured in Italy and will be delivered to Cyprus in stages due to their size and the complexity of transportation. According to experts, installation of the pontoons will take around six months.
Preparations for the commercial part of the project are also underway in parallel. In the coming months, premises for cafés and restaurants are expected to be handed over to operators so they can begin interior fit-out and equipment installation. Buildings for government services and the fuel station have already been completed and are also scheduled to come into operation in early 2026.

Housing, a Hotel, and a New Point of Attraction
Residential units within the marina are currently at the interior finishing stage, while construction has begun simultaneously on the final building of the complex, which will house a hotel. Once all works are completed, Paralimni Marina is expected to significantly enhance the investment and tourism appeal of the area by offering modern infrastructure and a high level of service.
The project plays an important role in the development strategy of the Paralimni–Deryneia municipality. It is aimed at developing maritime tourism, reducing seasonality, and attracting more affluent and demanding travelers. The marina will become an official port of entry into the Republic of Cyprus and will be able to accommodate up to 300 yachts and leisure vessels. Restaurants, cafés, shops, and service facilities will operate on its premises, creating a new vibrant public space on the map of eastern Cyprus.
Looking Ahead
Against the backdrop of growing interest in yachting tourism in the Eastern Mediterranean, Paralimni Marina is seen as a strategically important asset not only for the free areas of Famagusta, but for Cyprus’s tourism industry as a whole. It is expected that as early as 2026 the marina will begin welcoming its first visitors and will become a new focal point for yacht owners, investors, and tourists seeking high-quality seaside leisure.
