The Cyprus Police has officially launched the innovative DigiPol online platform. The milestone marks the culmination of an extensive five-year effort that began in June 2021. The project, which cost €8 million, is designed to completely transform the way citizens interact with law enforcement authorities. Complex bureaucratic procedures are now becoming a thing of the past, with more than 30 key police services available in just a few clicks.
From Concept to Reality
The development of DigiPol was financed through the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Fund. This fund was established during the pandemic to support member states in the digital transformation of public administration. The technical and scientific coordinator of the ambitious project was the KOIOS Centre of Excellence, operating under the University of Cyprus. Cooperation between the police and academic experts, formalized through an agreement covering the period from 2022 to 2026, made it possible to create not just a website with downloadable forms, but a comprehensive digital ecosystem featuring a user-friendly interface and a high level of data security.

Services Already Available to Citizens
The DigiPol platform is designed to address the most common situations that previously required a visit to a police station. Among the most sought-after services is the ability to obtain a criminal record certificate remotely, as well as request official documents related to road traffic accidents. Residents can access traffic police reports and other procedural documents without spending time in queues or visiting government offices. The system also supports requests for copies of materials required for court proceedings, significantly streamlining the work of lawyers and legal professionals.
To take advantage of DigiPol, each user must have a verified account in the CyLogin system. This is Cyprus’s unified authentication platform, serving as a “digital key” to all government online services. Using the same login credentials as for other public-sector platforms, residents can securely verify their identity, upload the necessary documents, and track the status of their applications through a personal dashboard. The platform can be accessed via the official portal at digipol.police.gov.cy/portal/el.
Benefits for Residents and Future Development
The launch of DigiPol is expected to significantly reduce the administrative burden on police officers. By digitizing paperwork and document processing, the police aim to cut operational costs and eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy. For residents, the benefits are obvious: there is no longer a need to take time off work to visit a police station before closing hours or wait weeks for documents to be processed. This saves both time and effort. Given that the Cypriot government plans to move around one hundred additional public services online during 2026, DigiPol is set to become a key component of this expanding digital ecosystem, bringing government services closer to the people.
