A new archery stadium was opened in the Pyla tourist area, Larnaca.
The project was implemented thanks to the participation of the Cyprus Archery Federation and the Pyla Community Council. It is assumed that the new stadium will contribute to the development of sports tourism in the region.
It should be noted that in addition to the archery field, the new stadium has offices, a storage room, a locker room, toilets, spotlights and an automatic irrigation system. Moreover, it is fully accessible for people with disabilities.
Among other things, about 100 tree seedlings will be planted around the stadium in the near future.
According to the Cyprus Archery Federation, the stadium is completely environmentally friendly.
We took an empty park, planted it and thus turned it into a great archery field. Now local athletes have a great place to train and compete here, said the head of the federation, Andreas Theofylaktou.
We must say that not a single euro was spent on the construction of the stadium from any public funds. The project was fully funded with private ones.
The first international archery competition Aphrodite Mediterranean Cup 2021 in Pyla will be held at the new stadium from 27 to 31 October. Hundreds of athletes from Cyprus and abroad are expected to participate.
