The Municipality of Paralimni–Deryneia has launched one of its most ambitious infrastructure projects in recent years. A contract was recently signed for the provision of consulting services related to the design and construction supervision of a new cultural center, which is set to become the largest facility of its kind in the Famagusta district.
The agreement was signed by the Mayor of Paralimni–Deryneia, Giorgos Nicolettos, and Dimitra Toumazi Hadjiloizi, Director of Dion. Toumazis & Associates LLC. The construction cost is estimated at €9 million.
A New Hub for the Region’s Cultural Life
The future complex will serve as a modern multifunctional venue capable of hosting major cultural, educational, business, and tourism-related events. The centerpiece of the project will be a state-of-the-art conference and events hall with a capacity of 1,000 seats.
The complex will also feature a 1,500 m² exhibition space, an art gallery, a technology museum, an outdoor exhibition area, and an open-air event venue with a 300-seat amphitheater.
The project further includes the creation of a research laboratory, a library, a reading room, and accommodation facilities for researchers and visiting specialists.
Municipal authorities believe that the new infrastructure will help attract international conferences, exhibitions, educational programs, and cultural festivals to the region.

A Space for Art, Education, and Innovation
Special emphasis has been placed on educational and creative activities. The building will include classrooms, seminar rooms, cultural workshops, dance and music studios, and a dedicated venue for fashion shows.
To ensure convenience for visitors and event participants, the complex will also feature a restaurant, a café, and a full range of supporting facilities.
The plans include dressing rooms, rehearsal and stage preparation areas, interpreter facilities, an audiovisual control center, offices, storage rooms, cloakrooms, and sanitary facilities.
This layout will allow several events of different formats and scales to take place simultaneously.
According to the mayor, the new cultural center is a long-awaited project for local residents. He noted that the facility will create opportunities for hosting national and international events that the region currently lacks.
Once completed, the center will be able to compete with the island’s largest venues and is expected to become a new attraction for both residents and visitors to Cyprus.
A New Boost for Tourism and the Local Economy
The development of cultural infrastructure has become one of the key priorities of the Municipality of Paralimni–Deryneia.
In recent years, the region has been actively expanding its tourism offering, aiming to attract visitors throughout the year rather than only during the summer season.
The new cultural center is expected to support the growth of business tourism, which is considered one of the most promising sectors for Cyprus.
Hosting international forums, exhibitions, and cultural events will help increase visitor numbers outside the peak tourist season and create additional opportunities for local businesses.
Upon completion, Paralimni will gain a modern multifunctional complex that will serve as an important cultural and educational center not only for the Famagusta district but for the entire island.
