Alesya Karnaukhova, CEO of ZIKZAK Architects, told DOM about the most relevant interior design trends for 2024. Spoiler alert: coziness and comfort of the person who will be using in the interior - remains in the trend.
Phytodesign
No modern design project can do without plants. Developed plant compositions - a lush oasis in the room, as much natural light as possible and the use of natural materials will be the most popular elements in interior design. Phytodesign is still relevant today, but in 2024 it will become a hot trend without exaggeration. The original plant as the center of the plot, a stately element of the interior - a fresh look and fashionable solution of the next year.

Japandi
Japandi is a combination of Scandinavian and Japanese styles in the interior, a symbiosis of simplicity and elegance. It is this style that will be at the peak of popularity of the year, which is already upon us. The union of Danish hugge and Japanese wabi-sabi dictates the rejection of excess, harmony, the search for aesthetics and meanings. Japanese style adds rich colors, wood, interesting decorative forms of ceramics and furniture to pure Scandinavian interiors.

Return of maximalism
At the same time, eclectic, bright and intricate interiors will also be in favor next year. Saturated deep shades, combination of unexpected textures, mix of polar styles in one room - this is all about maximalism in the interior. If competently and tastefully approach such a design, its kitschiness will become a recognizable character of the future space.

Flexible multifunctional spaces
In 2024, the trend for modular furniture and spaces that can be transformed for different purposes as needed will continue. After all, today's frantic rhythms and high standards require flexible solutions and quick adaptability.

Textures above all else
Textures will set the tone for the entire interior. A mix of various tactile materials in one space will give it a special character. Soft velvet, rough stone and smooth metal will combine to embody depth and spice, enhancing the sensory senses and aesthetic experience at the same time.

Personalization
Custom furniture, handmade décor, and signature art will be honored. Designers, working in as close a tandem as possible with the client, will create an environment that emphasizes the client's unique taste and individual preferences. In commercial interiors, this has the effect of reinforcing the company's brand and values.

Sustainable Development and Eco-Friendly Approach
Sustainable development is already a style of modern life. The trend will continue year after year, staying on the crest of the wave. Furniture made from recycled materials, organic raw materials, energy-efficient lighting, the use of solar panels and conscious consumption will translate into the eco-friendly interiors of today and the future.

Work as a lifestyle
The year 2024 will be marked by discussions about workplaces, tools that make employees efficient and satisfied, and putting them into practice. The design of offices will focus as much as possible on the well-being of their inhabitants. The "work as lifestyle" approach dictates spaces that are maximally adapted to the actual needs of employees. A gym and shower room in the office, a recreation room and a full-fledged café - all the benefits for the selective ambitious employee.

Current color palette
Color of the year Pantone Peach Fuzz, gentle and unobtrusive, can be implemented in interior design without fear. In addition, in the trend will be warm earthy shades that bring a sense of coziness and harmony. Of course, this is not a universal solution for all commercial interiors, because the color scheme is formed not for one year. It is a continuation of the idea of the room and is often subject to the corporate standards of the brand.
