The construction of a new educational complex for the PASCAL school in Limassol is well underway.
On Tuesday the 6th of August, the school's management presented photos of the major project.
Recall that the realisation of the grandiose idea is engaged in the company AGC Contractors Ltd. The new school buildings will be built near the village of Palodia, 5 kilometres from Limassol.
According to the press release, the new complex will have 28 modern classrooms for primary school pupils and 36 for secondary/senior high school pupils, several laboratories, art and music studios. The school will have a heated swimming pool, football pitches, basketball and handball courts, a gymnasium for athletics, a modern library with an extensive collection of books and digital resources, an indoor amphitheatre, a restaurant and a cafeteria. For the convenience of parents and staff, the school will have a large car park with charging points for electric cars. The new school complex will meet modern environmental standards. When the project is completed, all levels of education offered by the school will be concentrated in one location.
PASCAL English School is a co-educational boarding school.
The school is fully accredited by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Cyprus and is part of one of the largest and most prestigious educational institutions in Cyprus. PASCAL comprises two Greek schools (in Nicosia and Limassol) and three English schools (in Larnaca, Limassol and Nicosia), all of which are accredited by the University of Cambridge International Examinations, ESOL Examinations and Edexcel Pearson. The schools in Nicosia and Larnaca are accredited by IB World Schools.
One of the main features of the school is a six-year secondary education instead of seven. On completion of their studies, students receive the Apolytirion (National Certificate of Secondary Education) and can also take the British Secondary School Certificate GCE A levels or the Diploma of the International Baccalaureate.
The first three years of school provide a foundation for more specialised studies in the following three years. The subjects studied are English, Greek as a Foreign Language, French, Mathematics, History, Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology), Geography, Visual Arts, Music, Physical Education and Information Technology. All subjects are taught in English from Year 1.
From Years 4 to 6, the school offers a full programme of study comprising 4 core subjects and 3 to 6 optional subjects leading to the Apolytrion Certificate (one of the compulsory subjects must be Mathematics at a level appropriate to the pupil's ability). Pupils can take IGCSE Higher Tier, AS and A Level examinations. In Year 5, students may choose to take the International Baccalaureate Diploma programme.
