The Embassy of the Vatican will be built in Cyprus.
On Wednesday, November 25, the Council of Ministers approved the request of the Vatican government to lease land in Nicosia.
According to the release, the site that it was decided to allocate for construction is located in the area of Aglandjia, in the south-east of the capital.
As expected, the Vatican Government will begin construction of the building immediately after signing the relevant land lease agreement and obtaining all necessary licenses from the competent authorities. It is assumed that the project implementation period will be about 5 years.

It is worth noting that the Pope will visit the island at the beginning of next month.
He will stay on the island from December 2 to December 4. It is noteworthy that he will become the second Roman Catholic pontiff ever to visit the island.
During his visit, the Pope will meet with the President of Cyprus and Archbishop Chrysostomos to discuss, among other things, the construction of a new embassy. The issues of island division, migration/refugees, environmental protection, climate change and human rights are also on the agenda.
