Despite the pandemic and taking all the necessary sanitary measures, the renovation works of the Municipal Houses on Misiaouli and Kavazoglou Street, as well as the project for the creation of an Adult Occupation Center on Filellinon Street, continue at full speed.
Both projects, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union, are proceeding normally and are expected to be implemented within the planned timeframe, in about a year, bringing multiple benefits to the regions and contributing to the social cohesion of the inhabitants and urban product upgrade.
In particular, the apartment buildings on Misiaouli and Kavazoglou Street, which are monuments of historical and architectural importance as the first social policy interventions of the Municipality, after their restoration (total cost almost €4 000 000) will be used as social and cultural infrastructure.
The new buildings will feature a Counseling Center, a Center for the Protection and Employment of Children and a Youth Center, continuing the active and long-term intervention of the municipal authority. With the creation of the new spaces, the attendance at social services of the Municipality.
On Filellinon Street
Regarding the Adult Engagement Center, which will be hosted on Filellinon Street, a project of €1 500 000, is expected to improve the municipal services provided to the elderly, and will strengthen the volunteering, not only of those who provide services to the elderly age, but also of the users themselves.
The premises will be able to serve users for: organizing exhibitions, theatrical performances, lectures, events, screenings and other activities such as music education, theater, dance, gymnastics, teaching fine arts (painting, sculpture, crafts, etc.) and more.
In this way, culture is strengthened, a key priority of the Municipality, which gives impetus to the universal design, promotion and development of accessible support infrastructure, technologies, equipment and services with the aim of upgrading the whole of Limassol as a cultural metropolis.
It should be noted that in the same area, the public square with a total area of 4 300 m2 has already been renovated, a project which is also co-financed by the European Structural Funds and which was delivered to the public last October.
It is reminded in this regard that the works on the co-financed projects of the renovation of Misiaouli and Kavazoglou streets, the creation of a "Green Walk" in the area of Agios Antonios, the expansion of the Garyllis Linear Park and the creation of an Innovation Center on the street F The renovation of Renaissance Square, which is located next to the roundabout of Misiaouli and Kavazoglou, was completed.
Also, by the end of the year, the important project of the renovation of the historical center of Agia Fyla will be offered for construction, while the construction of the football stadium of Agios Ioannis in a Turkish Cypriot block, west of Georgiou Averof Street near Sr. (known to the people of Limassol as the "Eagle Stadium").
