The Tax Department of Cyprus has officially announced a temporary suspension of the Tax For All (TFA) website. The system will be unavailable for two days: May 7 and May 12. On the first date, the website will be taken offline at 1:00 p.m. The second shutdown is scheduled for Tuesday morning starting at 7:30 a.m. The interruptions are required for maintenance and platform upgrades.
Which Deadlines Have Been Extended
Due to these disruptions, the Tax Commissioner has introduced temporary relief for businesses and self-employed individuals. The deadlines for submitting key tax reports have been extended. VAT returns and VAT payments for the first quarter of 2026 must now be submitted and paid by May 20, 2026, inclusive. The same extended deadline applies to the VIES summary statement for April 2026, which can also be submitted without penalties until May 20.

Penalties for Late Submission
If taxpayers fail to meet the new deadline, penalties will apply. The late filing penalty for a VAT return is €100. In addition, a surcharge of 10% of the unpaid VAT amount will be imposed. A further €50 penalty applies for late submission of the VIES statement. Taxpayers are therefore advised not to delay.
The TFA website is the main platform for electronic tax filing in Cyprus. In recent months, the system has experienced intermittent disruptions due to increased demand. The planned outages in May are part of a broader modernization program announced by the Tax Department at the end of 2025. The extension of filing deadlines is a temporary measure and does not apply to later reporting periods. Taxpayers preparing second-quarter filings are encouraged to submit early to avoid last-minute congestion.
The Tax Department apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks taxpayers for their understanding. Officials recommend avoiding submissions on outage days and not waiting until the evening of May 20 to file returns, in order to reduce the risk of technical problems. Updated information about the TFA system is available on the official website of the Cyprus Tax Department.
