The modernization of Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium has begun in Larnaca. The project aims at a complete upgrade of the sports arena in line with modern requirements for safety, infrastructure, and spectator comfort.
As part of the reconstruction, the existing stands on the northern, southern, and eastern sides will be demolished and rebuilt to meet current standards. The western stand will be expanded with an additional level, improving the stadium’s overall functionality.
Infrastructure and parking upgrades
Special attention is being given to the infrastructure surrounding the arena. The existing parking area for 330 cars will be preserved and supplemented with a new parking facility. After completion, the site will include 4 spaces for buses, 1 space for an ambulance, around 250 car parking spaces, including 27 spaces for people with disabilities and 5 for electric vehicles, as well as about 50 spaces for two-wheeled transport.
Modern standards and comfort
Currently, the stadium has a capacity of 9,800 spectators. After modernization, it will accommodate 9,730 people. The slight reduction is due to the implementation of higher safety standards and improved comfort for fans.
The reconstruction of the stadium in Larnaca will be an important step in the development of the city’s sports infrastructure. The upgraded arena will be able to host higher-level matches and will become a modern venue for both local and international competitions.
