Larnaca Municipality has selected a contracting company to fix serious corrosion problems on the Piale Pasha promenade.
This was announced on Tuesday, April 2, by Mayor Andreas Viras.
According to the mayor, the works will start in about a month. He also expressed hope that the unsightly image of the busy city landmark would soon become a thing of the past. Viras said that the improvement works on the embankment will last for several months. All efforts will be aimed at restoring the sections of the pedestrian path damaged by erosion. By the way, for several years now, the coastal low plateau of Piale Pasha has a serious problem of corrosion of the concrete protective wall. It has large cracks almost along its entire length, from the medieval castle to the end of the pedestrian street. In some places the corrosion is so intense that pieces of concrete have fallen off due to moisture and large waves.
Recall that Larnaca has recently completed the restoration and improvement of the facades of the Piale Pasha coastal street. On Friday, April 5, in honor of this significant event, the President of Cyprus, Nicos Christodoulidis, will visit the city. In addition to walking along the renovated street, the President will visit the Artists' Park, which is located in the same part of Larnaca.
It should be noted that the architectural design for the project was developed by ARMON SPACE ARCHITECTURAL E.P.E. and the realization of the grandiose idea was entrusted to the company ΚΕ.ΠΑ.ΜΑ.
The contractor had the task of renovating the windows, doors and balconies of the houses, as well as repairing and painting the facades of all the buildings on Piale Pasha Street. The key colors chosen were indigo, ochre and its shades, yellow, burgundy and terracotta. This color palette is intended to be the basis for creating a color identity for Larnaca, which will be extended to the rest of the city and the region, to highlight its history.
The cost of the project is estimated at €1.1 million. The funds for the modernization of the street were provided by the European Union, the Cyprus Government and the Municipality of Larnaca.
The Piale Pasha is the first thing tourists see when they arrive in Larnaca. Therefore, the municipality needed to improve the aesthetic appearance of the coastal part of the city. Once completed, Piale Pasha is expected to become the new jewel of Larnaca. And the city will be able to attract even more tourists.
