The Cyprus Environment Ministry has received an application for the construction of a new botanical park in the village of Pervolia in the Larnaca area.
The project will be located in the coastal area, next to the lighthouse.
According to the mayor of the municipality, Costas Tiggis, the municipality will issue a call for tenders for the construction work as soon as the ministry gives the necessary approval. The project is scheduled to begin in 2025. It is expected that the works will take about one and a half years and will cost 250 thousand euros. The project is sponsored by the recently enlarged Municipality of Dromolaxia-Meneo (as a result of the merger of the Municipalities of Kiti, Pervolia and Tersefanou).
According to the plan, the park will cover an area of about 3,000 m2. In addition to the botanical garden, an observatory with a view of the sea and a tower will be built, a small fountain will be installed, modern urban equipment and lighting will be installed and sanitary facilities will be created.
It is recalled that the Cyprus Environment Ministry had previously approved the second phase of the Pervolia promenade.
This project will cover an area of more than 26 thousand m2. The coastal area will be equipped with pedestrian and cycle paths, sanitary facilities (toilets, changing rooms and showers), modern lighting and benches, outdoor fitness equipment.
Residents and guests of Pervolia will be able to spend hours not only walking and swimming by the sea, but also sitting and breathing fresh air in specially equipped places. For the convenience of visitors, there is also a spacious car park with 92 parking spaces, 10 of which are reserved for people with disabilities. Ornamental shrubs and trees will be planted along the pedestrian and cycle paths.
