Larnaca Municipality intends to continue the expansion and development of the promenade in the Pervolia area. In particular, the Municipality is preparing to announce the relevant tender already in the second half of 2024.
This was announced the other day by Cyprus Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou.
He noted that the second phase of the urban planning project for the formation of a coastal pedestrian and bicycle path in Pervolia is a continuation of the first phase, the construction works of which are fully completed.
According to the release, the work will begin as soon as the contractor is selected and all necessary paperwork is issued to him. The project will cover an area of more than 26 thousand m2. The coastal area will be equipped with pedestrian and bicycle paths, sanitary zones (toilets, changing rooms and showers), modern lighting and benches, outdoor sports simulators.
Residents and guests of this area will be able to spend hours not only walking by the sea, swimming, but also sitting in specially equipped places, breathing in fresh air. A spacious parking lot for 92 parking spaces will also be equipped for the convenience of visitors, 10 of which will be allocated for people with disabilities. Ornamental shrubs and trees will be planted along the pedestrian/bicycle path.
The cost of the project is estimated at 1.5 million euros. It is expected that 2/3 of this cost will be allocated from the Cyprus budget and 1/3 will be paid by the local municipality. The project will take about 18 months to implement.
It should be noted that the first phase of the project was completed back in 2017.
The second phase took a long time to be agreed upon. However, in the end, the local municipality managed to get the money for its realization.
The promenade is the center of life in any seaside resort. The extension of the Pervolia promenade will undoubtedly add even more attractiveness to this beautiful place and give a new impetus to the development of the resort.
