15 million euros will be spent to renovate the facility.

The government of Cyprus has started active preparations for Eurobasket group matches.

Recall that at the beginning of the year the island state was included in the list of countries hosting the European basketball tournament, which will start on 27 August and end on 14 September 2025. Limassol is expected to host the third group matches. The 15 games will take place on 28, 30, 31 August, 2 and 4 September 2025.

As part of this initiative, the city is actively renovating the Spyros Kyprianou Stadium. It is this location that has been chosen as the main venue for the grand event.

The stadium modernisation project includes replacement of old structures, new emergency exits, renovation of the floor and changing rooms. The responsible contractor is A&A Apostolidis, which won the tender.

Earlier it was announced that the Spyros Kyprianou Stadium needs a major overhaul, which according to preliminary estimates will cost the budget of Cyprus 15 million euros. Another 250-300 thousand euros will be needed for the basketball teams, which train at the sports centre, to move to another place for the period of modernisation of the courts and holding the tournament. Then they will be able to return to the sports centre. They intend to renovate the sports centre no later than March-April 2025.

Meanwhile, tickets for Eurobasket-2025 matches have already gone on sale. Each person is allowed to purchase a maximum of six pieces. For Cypriot fans, a fan card must be presented for purchase, while for foreign residents a passport or ID card number is required.
