The residential building Vassos Lyssaridis, located in Nicosia's historical center, is being reconstructed into a new boutique hotel.
According to Oikogenesis Ltd CEO Antonis Maltezos, his company entered into an agreement under which it rented the building for 99 years.
The upgrade is expected to take just over a year. A new hotel called Gate 22 will open its doors in early 2022.
According to the release, the hotel has 33 modern rooms with 66 beds. The new hotel will also feature a chic restaurant on the ground floor and a rooftop bar with stunning views of the surrounding area.
“We will keep the general concept of the building. It will not be demolished. However, the premises inside and the facade outside are being reconstructed. The building will undergo a full anti-seismic modernization, ”said Maltezos.
The estimated cost of the project is 1.5 million euros.
