CyStat (Cyprus Statistics) has published the latest data regarding the evolution of the Industrial Production Index in Cyprus.
According to experts' estimates, the Industrial Production Index for January 2024 reached 99.5 units, which is 4.2% more than in the same month of 2023.
Recall that the calculation is always based on the values of the industry for 2010, assigning it a mark of 100 units.
In the manufacturing sector, there was an increase of 3.2% compared to January 2023. Growth was also recorded in: water supply and material recovery (+33.8%), mining (+14.8%) and electricity (+0.4%).
In the manufacturing sector, the most significant positive changes compared to January 2023 were composed of the following economic activities: production of other non-metallic mineral products (+24%), production of electronic and optical products and electrical equipment (+13.2%), production of textiles, clothing and leather goods (+9.9%), production of rubber and plastic products (+9.2%), production of machinery and transport equipment (+7.6%),
The only negative changes were observed in the activities of production of other non-metallic mineral products (-12.8%) and production of refined petroleum products, chemicals, pharmaceutical products and preparations (-4.5%).
