The realisation of the ambitious project "Larnaka Land of Tomorrow" will start at the end of 2025.

An event was held in Larnaca to celebrate the strategic partnership between three major Cypriot companies: Lefkaritis Group, bbf: and Foster + Partners.

The important event, part of the presentation of the ambitious Land of Tomorrow project, took place on the seafront in the Dekelia area, where the first phase of the complex will soon be under construction.

The event was attended by the President of Cyprus, Nicos Christodoulides, the Speaker of Parliament, Annita Demetriou, the Mayor of Larnaca, Andreas Vyras, and a number of ministers and officials.

The Land of Tomorrow flagship project is expected to radically change the image of the Dekelia neighbourhood, transforming it from an industrial area into a modern space. According to the plan, within 10 years the 400,000 m2 area will have around 20,000 trees, pedestrian and cycle paths, a museum and recreational areas, as well as 8,000 houses. At the same time, there will be no high-rise buildings.

Recall that after the fuel depot on the east coast of Larnaca was moved to the Vasiliko industrial zone near the village of Zigi and the old tanks were dismantled, the question arose as to how to use the vacated area. British architects Foster + Partners designed Larnaka Land of Tomorrow for the Lefkaritis Group and bbf:. The design took into account Larnaka's historical and architectural heritage, its landscape features and the requirements of sustainable development projects.

Residents and visitors to Larnaca will have access to the shoreline throughout the project. The riverbed, which is currently covered in concrete, will be restored to its original appearance and a small bridge will be built across it. Footpaths and cycleways will be created along the banks. The plan is to build a museum in the shape of a fuel tank. It will be a reminder of the area's industrial past, which began to develop rapidly in the 1960s. The project will also include the creation of restaurants and bars, as well as a luxury 5-star hotel. It will also include a state of the art conference centre, private offices, co-working and event spaces to meet the needs of residents while attracting foreign and local visitors.

The project will be delivered in phases.

The first phase is expected to start in the last quarter of 2025 and be completed in 2028. During this time, the contractor will build a four-building residential complex in the coastal area. For the convenience of the residents, it will be equipped with swimming pools, gyms, playgrounds, green areas, etc. At the same time, the pre-sale of the apartments is planned for October 2024. The remaining properties will be offered to interested buyers in parallel with their construction.

Land of Tomorrow will be located just five minutes from Larnaca Marina, ten minutes from the city centre and 15 minutes from the airport. Land of Tomorrow is expected to become a new "jewel" for Larnaca and its residents. The development of the seafront land on the Larnaca-Dekelia road, where oil tanks used to be, will give a boost to the city's development. And the area will become a destination for Cypriot residents and foreign investors. The Land of Tomorrow project will provide new and important investment opportunities in tourism, culture, entrepreneurship, innovation and the environment in Cyprus.
