Paphos' Historic Centre Is Undergoing a Transformation

Paphos is continuing its ambitious programme to revitalise the city's historic centre. The municipal authorities are focusing on preserving the city's architectural heritage while modernising urban infrastructure to make the area more attractive for both residents and tourists. One of the key stages of the project has been the restoration of historic buildings that have shaped the unique character of old Paphos for decades.

Progress So Far

Particular attention has been given to the historic Eusevia Club building, located opposite the Paphos Municipal Hall. According to Acting Mayor of Paphos Angelos Onisiforou, the exterior restoration of the building has now been completed.

The restoration work was carried out with the utmost respect for the building's architectural features and historical significance. Specialists preserved the original style of the structure while renovating its façades and improving its overall appearance. As a result, one of the most iconic landmarks in central Paphos has once again become a prominent feature of the district and an important part of the city's urban landscape.

At the same time, work continues on the modernisation of the neighbouring municipal building, which is architecturally connected to the Eusevia Club. This property, also owned by the municipality, is undergoing a complete renovation. Once completed, it will house municipal services. The authorities expect the new premises to provide more comfortable working conditions for staff while improving the quality of services offered to city residents. The modernisation of municipal property forms part of the city's long-term strategy to improve public administration and enhance public spaces.

Paphos Continues the Transformation of Its Historic Centre

In recent years, Paphos has become one of Cyprus' leading cities in terms of urban regeneration projects. Since being named a European Capital of Culture, the city has invested heavily in the reconstruction of streets, public squares, historic buildings, and tourism infrastructure. Today, the revitalised centre of Paphos attracts an increasing number of visitors thanks to its combination of historical character and modern urban design. The restoration of historic buildings helps preserve the city's cultural identity while making it a more comfortable place to live. Particular emphasis has been placed on developing pedestrian areas, public spaces, and cultural facilities, which has had a positive impact on both the tourism sector and the local real estate market.

Municipal officials emphasise that all projects are being implemented as part of a comprehensive approach to urban development. Preserving the city's historical heritage while improving the quality of the urban environment remains the primary objective. According to the authorities, investment in the restoration of municipal properties not only helps preserve important architectural landmarks but also creates new opportunities for residents, businesses, and visitors.
