The historic GSP stadium is taking new shape and renovation works are progressing rapidly, as evidenced by new photos published on Friday, January 19, on the Nicosia First page.
The radical reconstruction and redevelopment were undertaken by Cyfield Construction - Cyfield Development JV. The budget of the project, which is quite impressive for Nicosia, amounts to 20 million euros. The money for its implementation was allocated from the EU cohesion fund, the state budget, and the municipality of Nicosia, within the framework of the regional development program for 2021-2027.

The works are being carried out in the area between Grigori Afxentiou, Evagorou, and Vasileos Pavlou Streets, east of the Ministry of Finance building in Nicosia.
The project started in November 2021. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the project was delayed by 3 months. The original plan was to deliver the stadium within 24 months. To catch up with the lost time, workers are working even on weekends. To date, about 85% of the project has been realized.
It should be noted that after the radical modernization of the GSP stadium, the public will have new restaurants, cafes, a playground, and stores where they can walk, drink coffee, eat and store.
In the center of the stadium, there will be a town square with an open-air amphitheater, which will include seats for movie screenings. For the convenience of visitors, two underground parking lots for 554 parking spaces will be equipped, of which 33 will be allocated for the disabled, 28 for people with reduced mobility, and 12 for electric cars. The renovation of the GSP Stadium is a very important project in the heart of Nicosia, which will give a boost to the development and renewal of the historic center of the capital.
