On Friday, The President of the Republic inaugurated the Pafos Innovation Institute, a unique academic project in Cyprus, a Municipality of Paphos's Municipality with the renowned Reichman University (IDC Herzliya) of Israel. With the formalization of the educational institution's operation, the city enters a new era and invests in innovation and education.
Both President Anastasiadis and Mayor Phaedon Phaedon pointed out in their greetings that with projects of this scope, Paphos is creating a third pillar of economic activity, next to tourism and construction that it can absorb young scientists and become a regional academic center.
They characterized the inaugurated project tonight as one of the most important things done in Cyprus since this kind of project opens new roads and new perspectives in cities and creates a positive impact throughout the country.
The inaugural program began with an Academic Conference of Distinguished Israeli Professors and Diplomats on "Academia New Frontiers." It continued with greetings from Paphos Mayor Phaedo Phaedo and the mayor of Herzliya, Israel, Moshe. It was followed by a speech by the President and Founder of IDC University Professor Uriel Reichman and videotaped greetings by the Minister of Higher Education of Israel Zeev Elkin and the President of the State of Israel Reuven Rivlin.
The program culminated with the President of the Republic Nicos Anastasiades' speech and then the unveiling of the inaugural plaque.
As part of the event, an honorary plaque was awarded to the company Korantina Homes. Because of this sponsorship, the facilities of the Institute were erected.
