Paphos residents and visitors now have the opportunity to stroll along the sea on a specially equipped walkway more than 5 km long.
On Tuesday, January 16, Peyia Municipality announced that the first phase of construction of the new promenade in the town has been completed.
According to the mayor's office, during the works, modern street lighting was installed along the entire perimeter of the coastal area, a beautiful pedestrian bridge was installed between the banks of the Xeros River, connecting the promenade with the future harbor of Paphos. More than 2.5 million euros were spent on the realization.

This ambitious project is divided into 4 phases:
- The first phase envisages the modernization of a 5.1 km section, from the Kissonerga - Peyia highway to the coastline of the eastern part of Coral Bay.
- The second phase involves the modernization of a 1.6 km section from the western part of Coral Bay to the area of Sklinikari (Agios Georgios State Forest).
- The third phase involves the modernization of a 3.6 km section from the Sklinikari area (Agios Georgios State Forest) to the Sea Caves.
- The fourth phase involves the modernization of a 3.2 km long section, from the Sea Caves to the harbor of Agios Georgios, where the Peyia Fishermen's Shelter is located.
In addition to a landscaped pedestrian walkway, the project includes the construction of a grand linear park along the waterfront, a bicycle path, numerous recreational areas, an amphitheater, an open-air gym, a basketball and volleyball court, a mini soccer field, a kiosk and playground for children, public restrooms and showers. In other words, they want to build a whole park complex in Peyia, which is sure to attract not only locals but also numerous tourists.
The project is co-financed 2/3 by the Department of Urban Planning and Housing of the Ministry of Interior and 1/3 by the Peyia Municipality fund.
The large-scale project is expected to take about 15 months to complete. After completion of all works, the total length of the coastal road will be 16 km.
