In the very center of Limassol, the construction of a unique residential complex Art Square is actively underway.
According to the developer, the Italian street artist Francesco Camillo Giorgino, known in the world of street art under the pseudonym Millo, will arrive on the island the next day to contribute to the realization of the large-scale project.
In particular, Giorgino will paint with his graffiti the 6-story walls of the buildings that make up Art Square. The famous rafter will create a collection of open-air paintings celebrating the beauty of Cypriot nature and its inhabitants. It is expected that the monumental paintings will become a new landmark of Limassol and will help it to win the honorary title of European Capital of Culture 2030.
I have had the opportunity to paint all over the world, but to be part of the Art Square project in Cyprus is indeed a special honor. The work from the very beginning of the project has been both challenging and extremely interesting. This is the first time I will be creating on a canvas that has been specially prepared for my art," said Giorgino.
Thus, starting on February 25, all residents and guests of Limassol will be able to watch the process of creating a huge graffiti in the residential complex Art Square.
The culmination will be the grand opening of the exhibition, which will take place on April 6. It will feature Millo's murals and an exhibition of children's artwork from students from local schools participating in the exhibition. At the opening of the exhibition, the author of the works himself will talk to the guests.
In addition, the Italian artist will hold a series of master classes for students in Limassol, focusing on topics such as creativity, the role of street art in contemporary urban culture and the harmonious integration of art and architecture. Cypriot teenagers and young adults will have the opportunity to create their creations under the guidance of Millo.
As a reminder, Francesco Camillo Giorgino (Millo) was born in 1979 in the town of Mezagna (Brindisi province). Even though he received a decent architectural education, actively engaged in street painting, so that very soon won recognition at the national level, winning the prestigious competition Premio Celeste, after which he took part in several street art festivals throughout Europe. His work has been seen in China, India, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Thailand, Palestine, Jordan, UK, Cyprus, Georgia, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Russia, Belarus, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Mexico, France, Polynesia, Morocco, USA and all European countries. In addition, his artworks are also part of two permanent museum collections in Berlin and Amsterdam.
Art Square is a contemporary project consisting of four 6-story buildings made up of four 6-story buildings, made up so that inside there is a large private space exclusively for the residents. Two entrances with fountains lead to the gated and guarded complex, they are located opposite each other and are connected by a walkway. Along it there is an artificial river and a dense green garden with benches for relaxation or remote work in the fresh air.
In the center on one side of the "river" there is a children's playground and an outdoor exercise area for adults, on the other side there is a swimming pool and a relaxation area under awnings. Each of the residential blocks has its underground parking and a green island, which slightly "fences off" it from the common area.
Inside the buildings there are also public areas: these are places for meetings and parties, a hall for yoga, table tennis, dancing and other sports.
It is worth taking into account that the complex has energy efficiency class A, which is facilitated by solar panels installed on the roofs of the blocks. This allows you to keep the environment clean and reduce the cost of utilities.
