On Thursday, February 22, architecture firm XZA Architects came up with a project to modernize the Cyprus Wine Museum.
The proposal, developed by the company's employees, envisages modernization and expansion of the existing building, as well as the construction of a small 3-story hotel on the territory of the museum.
XZA Architects noted that the hotel will fit perfectly into the overall concept of the project and will open new opportunities for owners and visitors. It will have seven rooms with balconies ranging from 30 m2 to 50 m2. On the roof of the building, there will be a semi-open bar and a swimming pool. And on the first floor, there will be a reception and a cozy spa zone.
Recall that the wine museum is located in the village of Erimi in the district of Limassol.
This year the museum will celebrate its 20th anniversary. The creation of the museum was made possible thanks to the hard work of Francis and Anastasia Gai, who between 1998 and 2004 carried out the restoration and decoration of the 150-year-old stone structure.
The museum's exposition is divided into several periods: prehistoric, Roman, Byzantine, and Middle Ages. The museum has a collection of bowls and jugs, some of which date back to 2300 BC. Of particular interest to visitors is the St. Hilarion Tasting Room. Here samples from 38 Cypriot wineries are made. Wine bottles are placed in the alcoves of the ancient walls and the bar is a structure made up of huge wine barrels. It is here that guests can relax and enjoy fine Cypriot wines accompanied by light snacks, as well as information about the island's main wine regions.
