The Cyprus Department of Environmental Protection has approved the construction of a new sports center for the Cyprus Football Federation (CFF).
According to the release, the major project will be realized on a plot of land with a total area of 143,827 m2, which is located in the village of Kornos in the district of Larnaca.
The development plan was designed by the architectural firm FEREOS ARHITECTS LLC - TSAMP. The company won the tender among 10 bidders. According to the plan, the new sports center for KOP will include soccer fields with all related facilities, an office building and other ancillary educational and hotel facilities, connected by a plaza with landscaped area.

A more detailed development plan would include:
- An 80x120m soccer pitch with 1,500 spectator seats for international matches.
- Two auxiliary training pitches of 80x120m with natural turf.
- 4 small training fields with artificial turf, which can be combined into a large field of 80X120m.
- Storage areas for maintenance equipment for the four aforementioned fields.
- Dressing rooms for players and referees.
- Physiotherapy and rehabilitation rooms, doctor's office, gym, and swimming pool.
- Coaches' offices and locker rooms with conference room and coaching school office.
- Doping Testing Area.
- TMC Headquarters which will include offices, seminar/event rooms, reception areas, press office, and archive.
- Hostel for athletes with 26 double rooms.
- A cafeteria to serve staff, athletes, and visitors.
- Parking lot with 192 parking spaces for cars, 5 parking spaces for VIP staff, 13 parking spaces for the disabled, 5 parking spaces for electric cars, 3 parking spaces for buses, 13 parking spaces for mopeds, and 25 parking spaces for bicycles.

The total built-up area will be about 10 thousand m2. The new soccer center in Kornos will be the largest sports project in Cyprus.
It should be noted that last year the management of the CUP managed to conclude a contract for the lease of the land plot for the construction of a large-scale sports facility until July 25, 2052.
