On Friday, January 20, the municipality of Larnaca summed up the previously announced tender for the construction of a park called "Salina".
The project is expected to start in the first quarter of 2023.
According to the idea, a beautiful public space will be created in the area of the former residence of the head of the neighborhood and the police of Drosia, which will become a new attraction for residents and guests of the city.
The cost of the project is estimated at 3 million euros. Partially, the sum will be allocated by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
It is worth noting that the architectural competition for the park, which will include several entertainment areas along with modern solutions in the organization of space, was announced by the Municipality of Larnaca back in 2020. Elena Sofianou - Olympiou received the first prize.
She developed a project that provides for the creation of a lake and fountains, active and passive entertainment zones, landscaping of the territory and the installation of new outdoor equipment. The space in the park will be organized in such a way that it will become an excellent place for entertainment, sports and recreation for citizens. In addition, the new park will create an accessible infrastructure for people with disabilities.
Salina Park will be an extension of the existing Larnaca Municipal Park.
