In addition to the skyrocketing cost of housing, the cost of maintaining and repairing properties in Cyprus is also on the rise. This is mainly due to the increase in the price of building materials as well as the services of various professionals.
This is evidenced by the latest data from the Cyprus Statistical Service.
According to a new report from the service, the cost of electricians' services on the island rose by 7.2% in September 2024 compared to the same month last year. By the way, in the same month of 2022, the figure was 9.6%, and in 2021 - 23%. Over the last four years, electrical services in Cyprus have grown by 51%.
In turn, plumbing services increased by 2.5% in September 2024, compared to 5.7% in 2023 and 18.9% in 2022.
The four-year cumulative increase was 28.0%. Painters increased 13.8% year over year in September 2024, following increases of 12.7% in 2023 and 15.7% in 2022. Over the past four years, prices for painting services have increased 48.4%. Carpentry services increased 8.7% in the month. The cumulative increase over the four years was 50.0%.
The cost of maintaining heating systems in Cyprus rose by 5.6% year-on-year in September 2024, with a four-year cumulative increase of 14.6%. Expenditure on regular housing maintenance in Cyprus rose by 5.7% year-on-year in September, with a four-year increase of 44.9%. Property rents in Cyprus increased by 4.4% year-on-year and by 15.6% from September 2021 to September 2024.
