The coronavirus pandemic affected the works and the Ayia Napa marina customers since many boat owners from neighboring countries cannot transport them for mooring in Cyprus.

As the Director of the Ayia Napa Marina, Konstantinos Fytiris, stated, "the effects of the coronavirus pandemic also hit the naval destination as we want to establish Cyprus. The potential customers of the marina came from Israel, Lebanon, and Egypt. Which due to a change in their categorization, they can no longer transport their boats to dock at the marina, "he said and noted that" based on the new data, the Arab countries are now potential customers. "

Answering a relevant question, Mr. Fytiris said that "Cyprus can offer high-quality services, to attract foreigners for investments or to come temporarily with their boats and stay for some time."

"We have made sure that the marina becomes a smart marina and provides several services that many neighboring states cannot offer," he added.

For this reason, he continued, "we have many requests for mooring boats, and we expect that as soon as the coronavirus pandemic is over, several customers will come from neighboring countries. "There are already several boats from Israel and Lebanon, whose owners managed to reach Cyprus before the pandemic started or before the specific countries changed category."

Asked how the first summer of the Ayia Napa marina was spent, Mr. Fytiris replied that "during the months of July and August, we also had internal arrivals of boats in the marina. The area of Ayia Napa - Protaras is beautiful with the result that we had the appearance of ships from Limassol, Paphos, and even from Larnaca ".

As for the remaining months of the year, he noted: "the arrival of vessels from neighboring and other countries will depend on the evolution of the situation with the coronavirus pandemic."

Asked to indicate the stage of construction of the Ayia Napa marina, he said that "the project was divided into different phases. Each phase that will be completed, the specific construction site will be operational and isolated. Specifically, the first phase, which is the port works, has been completed, while the second phase, which is the commercial part of the marina, i.e., the shops and restaurants, is expected to be completed next April ".

In the third phase, the residential part is expected to be completed around the end of 2021, the beginning of 2022".
