Construction of the new Mall of Limassol will begin in the first half of 2025.
This was announced on Tuesday 24 December by the CEO of Mall of Cyprus and Mall of Engomi, Cyprus Hadjistillis.
He stressed that Limassol lacks shopping centres and this project will help to fill this gap. Hadjistillis said that they intend to have the shopping centre operational by 2027 at the latest.
It is expected that the new mall will not only become an attraction for local shoppers, but will also make a huge contribution to the development of the Cypriot economy by creating jobs and attracting additional investment.
The Mall of Limassol is being developed by Atterbury Europe, which owns the Mall of Cyprus and Mall of Engomi shopping centres in Nicosia. The mall will be built close to the Vashiotis Kalande residential complex and the municipal kindergarten no. 27 in the Mesa Getonia area. The building will consist of two floors with 114 shops, a cinema and a supermarket. The cost of the project is estimated at 80 million euros.
There is currently a shopping centre in Limassol called My Mall.
My Mall is one of the city's most prominent and modern landmarks. The mall was opened in mid 2009. My Mall is located in the Zakaki area, close to the New Port and the integrated casino resort City of Dreams Mediterranean. The mall has more than 120 shops, an early development centre, an ice rink, a video games and bowling zone, restaurants and cafes.
It has been announced that the owners of My Mall intend to carry out a radical modernisation of the shopping centre. In particular, the mall building will be expanded to accommodate more shops, restaurants and entertainment venues of Cypriot and international importance.
In addition to increasing the commercial area by 6,000 m2 and renovating the interior and exterior of My Mall, Dorsel (BAZ) Ltd and Ari Real-Estate (Arena) Investments plan to develop residential areas within the mall. Next to My Mall they are going to build a residential complex with a total area of 8 thousand m2, which will include 150-160 apartments. In this way, the investors intend to meet the housing needs of the employees of the Zakaki district.
