Nicosia's Tseri Avenue gets a makeover

The upgrading of Tseri Avenue in Nicosia is well underway and on schedule.

This was announced by the mayor of the municipality, Stavros Stavrinidis, on Monday 6 January.

According to him, the contractors have been working without interruption since October 2024. Despite the difficulties encountered by shopkeepers and residents, all disputes are resolved promptly and minor delays are dealt with as quickly as possible.

For example, the recent heavy rains caused potholes on the road, but the damage was quickly repaired. In the coming months (January and February), the authorities plan to consider eight appeals relating to land expropriation. In addition, the possibility of renting vacant areas for the organisation of temporary parking zones is being studied.

It should be noted that the Avenue reconstruction project is divided into six stages, three of which cover the eastern part of the Avenue and the remaining three the western part. The first two stages are scheduled for completion in May-June 2025. When completed, the Avenue will have 275 new parking spaces, 19 modern bus stops, safe pedestrian crossings and decorative landscaping. In addition, the sewerage system will be upgraded and modern street lighting will be installed.Проспект Цери в Никосии преображается

It is recalled that the upgrading of Tseri Avenue in Nicosia is part of a larger project to improve the main avenues of the capital of Cyprus. It also includes the renovation of Hippocratus and Argyroupoleos Streets. The project aims at upgrading the road infrastructure in the districts of Lakatamia and Strovolos. It includes the construction of a 4-lane road with a width of 3.25m, a central island with a width of 2.20m, pavements with a width of 2m on each side, a green lane with a width of 1.10m on each side and a bicycle lane with a width of 3m, for a total length of approximately 6.2km.

The project also includes the construction of three roundabouts, a bridge over the Calogeros River, a storm water drainage system, new street lighting, pedestrian crossings and landscaping.
