An important project is entering the implementation phase in Paphos. The project should further aesthetic renewal of the traditional shopping center of the city.
On Thursday, September 30, Paphos Mayor Fedonas Fedonos signed an agreement to reconstruct the municipal market and shopping area around the Pancyprian Federation of Labour in the city center.
The landscaping of the territory and the building will be carried out by the contractor OCD + A Studio, selected in the framework of the Architectural Competition.
OCD + A Studio will have to completely transform the historical center of Paphos. The project includes a complete renovation of the old market building, as well as the restoration of the facades of adjacent houses.
The project cost is estimated at 500 thousand euros.

It is worth noting that one of the main problems of Paphos is an outdated road network, narrow streets, lack of public spaces, dilapidated buildings, aesthetic chaos, lack of a unified urban style, as well as the rapid expansion of the city's boundaries, as a result of which nearby villages are becoming urban areas, but still need the appropriate infrastructure. It is expected that these problems will be partially resolved in the course of the improvement of the area.
The mayor of the city noted that the municipality intends to renovate and improve the Anavargos and Theoskepasti areas in Kato Paphos in the future. To get rid of traffic jam, Vasilikou Street will be expanded. In the Theoskepasti area, the area adjacent to kindergarten no. 6 will become a square and will link the archaeological park, Psarochori and Fabrika avenue.
In addition, the old buildings belonging to the Cyprus Tourism Organization will be demolished and a new square will be created in front of the Almyra Hotel. As part of the improvement, some roads will become one-way. Which ones are not yet reported.
