The center of Nicosia will soon be radically transformed.
The city municipality recently announced a tender for the modernization of Trikoupi Street (from the Town Hall Square to the roundabout).
According to the release, the facades of 51 buildings will be restored in the city, 17 of which are architectural monuments. In addition, the contractor company, which will be entrusted with the project, will repair the road and sidewalks, and equip five new pedestrian crossings.
The project also includes the installation of new modern street lighting, installation of a new integrated underground rainwater collection network, repair of the sewer network and repair of underground utilities, and landscaping of the street.
The estimated cost of the project is 4.2 million euros plus VAT.
It will be co-financed by the European Union under the development program for 2021-2027.
The project is aimed at improving the urban environment, solving transport problems and facilitating the movement of pedestrians and disabled people, as well as attracting entrepreneurs to the center of Nicosia.
