The average monthly wage in Cyprus rose by 5.4% to €2,351 in the third quarter of 2010.
This was announced by the island state's statistical service on Friday 31st January.
According to the agency, the average earnings of men in the third quarter of 2024 reached the mark of 2,526 euros, while women - 2,133 euros. 40% of workers in Cyprus still earn less than €1,500 a month. 39% of Cypriots earn between €1,500 and €2,999, 12% between €3,000 and €4,499, 6% between €4,500 and €5,999 and 4% over €6,000. On a seasonally adjusted basis, average earnings rose by 1.3% over the quarter.
Despite the overall improvement, a large proportion of employees (40%) still earn less than €1 500 per month. The gap between men's and women's salaries persists, but is gradually narrowing. The new data confirm the positive dynamics of the Cypriot labour market, but the imbalance between the low and high paid categories remains noticeable.
