Assets of Investment Funds in Cyprus Exceed €7.9 Billion

According to new data from the Central Bank of Cyprus, in September 2025 the assets of investment funds increased by 16% compared to the same period in 2024. Their total value reached €7,892.2 million, which is more than €1 billion higher than last year, when assets amounted to €6,801.7 million.

The number of investment organisations also grew. In September 2025, there were 351 funds, compared to 334 a year earlier. This reflects the overall expansion of the sector and rising interest in the Cypriot jurisdiction.

Asset structure and investment directions

Out of the total €7,892.2 million:

  1. €860.2 million are placed in deposits and loans,
  2. €613.4 million invested in debt securities,
  3. €5,847.8 million invested in shares and related instruments,
  4. €390.9 million allocated to non-financial assets, including fixed assets,
  5. €179.9 million represent other assets, including financial derivatives.

Compared with the previous quarter, total assets grew by 4.1%, or €314.1 million in absolute terms — confirming stable, short-term upward momentum.

Favourable environment and capital inflows

The growth recorded in September continues a long-term trend of increasing assets under management. In the first quarter of 2025, total funds managed by Cyprus-based investment vehicles were already approaching €10.7 billion, reflecting an annual increase of about 18%.

Regulators emphasise that the attractiveness of the Cypriot fund sector is driven by a combination of strong regulation, a stable legal framework, and active cooperation between the public and private sectors. As a result, Cyprus is steadily strengthening its position as a financial centre within the European Union.

Significance for investors and the economy

The rise in investment fund assets reflects growing interest from international investors in Cyprus’s financial platform. Stable growth shows that the fund market infrastructure is developing confidently and continues to offer favourable conditions for investors.

For the Cypriot economy, the expansion of the fund sector means additional capital inflows, new jobs, and an increase in the value of financial services aimed at both European and global markets.
