Modernization of Theoskepasti Square and its surrounding streets has begun in Paphos.
This was announced on Wednesday, January 3, by the mayor of the town, Phedon Phedonos.
The project, which covers an area of 17.5 thousand m2, includes a complete renovation of the sewage system, laying new pedestrian paths, installing benches and modern street lighting, landscaping around the square.
In addition, the nearby part of Poseidonos Avenue with one-way traffic will be converted into a two-way road.

The estimated cost of the project is 5 million euros and its duration for 12 months. It should be noted that part of the funds for its realization is allocated from the EU funds.
The main goal of the project is to connect the inner part of the tourist area of Kato Paphos with the coast.
One of the main problems of Paphos is the outdated road network, narrow streets, lack of public spaces, deteriorated buildings, aesthetic chaos, lack of a unified urban style, as well as the rapid expansion of the city boundaries, as a result of which the nearby villages actually become urban areas, but do not have the appropriate infrastructure. It is expected that these problems will be partially addressed during the neighborhood improvement works.
