The Cyprus Department of Environment granted permission for the expansion and modernization of the Sveltos Hotel in the Orokini area of Larnaca. Sveltos Estates Ltd. announced this on Tuesday, August 5. Construction will begin soon. The project's main goal is to improve the region's tourist infrastructure and enhance its appeal as a modern resort destination.
What does the work involve?
According to the project documentation, a new three-story building with a basement level will be constructed and connected to the existing building (Block A) by a covered passageway on the first and second floors. A small part of the old building will be demolished to ensure integration with the new facility.
The new hotel section will include 24 additional rooms, an indoor swimming pool, a modern gym, a rooftop relaxation area, and 19 parking spaces, seven of which are reserved for people with disabilities. These additions will improve service quality and expand the range of services offered.
Renovated hotel: a synthesis of comfort and functionality
Once completed, the entire hotel complex will have 70 rooms, three swimming pools, restaurants, bars, a spacious kitchen, a reception area, luggage storage, office space, and 52 parking spaces accessible to guests with special needs.
Environmental and social aspects of the project
The project has undergone an environmental impact assessment, which revealed no significant negative environmental impacts. Construction is not expected to affect transport accessibility, as there are no plans to close roads or restrict access to nearby areas.
Important infrastructure facilities, including hotels, restaurants, a church, a fire station, a police station, private homes, and agricultural land, are located within a kilometer of the site.
Timeline and Investment
The estimated cost of renovating the hotel is €1.5 million. The work will take 12 months to complete. Given the stable demand for tourism services in Larnaca, this investment is considered long-term and strategically advantageous. Not only will the project renovate the existing hotel, it will also create new jobs and strengthen the competitiveness of Larnaca's tourism sector on the international stage.
