The Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics (CING) has officially signed a contract with a contractor to build a new physiotherapy center. This is one of the institution's most significant infrastructure projects since its founding, following the completion of the new CING main building, which is scheduled to open in 2025.
The center will be equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and hydrotherapy facilities and will use modern rehabilitation technologies to provide patients with comprehensive, innovative health recovery services. The building will be located next to the institute's current headquarters. A generous donation from a foreign foundation made the project possible, underscoring the international recognition and trust in the CING's mission.
A new level of patient care
According to the institute's director general, Professor Leonidas Filakitis, the project is the realization of a long-held dream. The modern facilities and state-of-the-art equipment will provide new opportunities for patients with neuromuscular and neurological diseases, improving their quality of life and enabling more personalized treatment. Special attention will be paid to creating a space that meets high medical standards and is comfortable and welcoming for patients and their families.
Experience and Future Development
Since 1996, the Institute has had a Physiotherapy Department staffed by highly qualified specialists with extensive experience treating chronic neurological and neurodegenerative diseases. The new center will build on this work by providing an expanded range of rehabilitation services, including programs for recovery from strokes, spinal cord injuries, and progressive nervous system diseases.
Experts predict that the project will significantly boost the development of Cyprus's medical infrastructure, attracting patients from within and outside the country and strengthening the island's position as a center for medical tourism in the region.
