On Friday 7 February, the municipality of Geroskipou, southwest of Paphos, announced the upcoming renovation of the Olympic swimming pool.
The total cost of the renovation will be €360,000. The project will be partly funded by the Cyprus Olympic Association (KOA).
According to the local mayor's office, the work will include the removal of old metal structures, the construction of new concrete walls, the replacement of the pool's cover and perimeter, as well as solving the problem of stagnant water. In addition, all the technical systems will be upgraded.
We would like to remind you that the Geroskipou Olympic Swimming Pool was built in 2005.
It is part of the Geroskipou Sports Centre, located just 3km from Paphos harbour. The centre includes a 50m outdoor pool with 10 lanes, a gym and a number of other sports facilities. The building has floodlights for night training. There is a large car park for the convenience of visitors.
Once the facility is operational, athletes from all over Cyprus will have the opportunity to train, enjoy their training and improve their performance in the new, safe, high quality and aesthetically upgraded swimming pool.
