The Capital City Council announced the launch of a new two-month business accelerator on Friday 6 September.
The programme is aimed at individuals, teams and existing businesses in the creative and cultural sectors who want to develop their ideas. Specifically, according to a statement from the municipality, the Nicosia HUB-IN accelerator "aims to support the development of creative and cultural businesses".
Participation in the initiative is completely free. It will be implemented in cooperation with the Centre for Scientific Training, Evaluation and Development of the University of Cyprus, the Cyprus Energy Agency and the CYENS Centre of Excellence.
According to the idea, the accelerator will focus on entrepreneurial ideas, products and services in the creative and cultural sector, with a special emphasis on the preservation and presentation of Nicosia's historical and cultural heritage.
The main objective of the programme is to develop entrepreneurial skills and create new opportunities for sustainable business development," Nicosia Municipality said in a statement.
As part of the programme, all participants can expect to receive mentoring and basic business skills to enable them to successfully develop their ideas and start-ups.
Workshops on entrepreneurship, marketing, project management and human resources are planned during the two-month programme.
Participants will also receive one-to-one mentoring from experienced professionals and the opportunity to network with key industry figures.
At the end of the programme, they will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas and compete for funding to grow their business.
The workshops will be held weekly from 17:30 to 21:30 at the Nicosia Town Hall.
The deadline for applications to participate is Monday 9 September 2024.
