A new public parking lot is being completed in the center of Larnaca on Grigoris Afxentiou Avenue, opposite Pankipra High School.
According to a statement from the local municipality, work on the large-scale project is progressing steadily. The project, which started in April last year, should be completed in late 2023 or early 2024. By the way, the company Kypris and Geranis Constructions Ltd, which is engaged in the development of the parking lot, is set to officially hand over the infrastructure facility to the municipality of Larnaca no later than February.

The new parking lot is located on the land of Turkish-Cypriots, where since 1975 there have been refugee shanties.
Before the start of the works, the shantytowns were demolished. It is worth mentioning that 500 thousand euros were allocated from the budget of Larnaca for the equipment of the new municipal parking lot. The parking lot will have a total of 100 parking spaces. The area around the parking lot will be landscaped. The entire perimeter of the parking lot will have modern street lighting, sanitary areas for the public, bicycle parking spaces, and benches. The design project was developed by ARMON Choros Architektonikis E.P.E., an architectural firm.
The decision to build a new parking lot was made because of the active construction in the area and the increased demand of citizens for parking spaces.
