In the very heart of old Nicosia, within the medieval city walls, a new boutique hotel — 17 Arches Boutique Hotel Suites — is set to open. The building, which had been abandoned for many years and had practically disappeared from the city’s daily life, will be restored and transformed into an elegant hotel. This revival became possible thanks to the careful, sensitive work of Fissentzides Architects, who designed the renovation plan and preserved the building’s original character and historical features.
Historical heritage with a modern touch
The hotel is named 17 Arches after the seventeen stone arches embedded in the building’s structure, which were uncovered during restoration. These arches have become the project’s main architectural and decorative highlight. Every detail of the interior has been thoughtfully designed to retain the spirit of old Nicosia while providing guests with comfort that meets modern premium hospitality standards.
The complex will include several spacious, individually styled designer suites. Guests will be able to choose rooms featuring original architectural elements or contemporary options emphasizing natural light and proximity to the internal garden. The property will also feature a relaxation area with a swimming pool and a shaded garden pergola — ideal for unwinding among traditional Cypriot ceramics and local greenery.

Bringing life back to old Nicosia
The opening of the new hotel marks an important step in the ongoing revitalization of Nicosia’s historic center. The city is actively enhancing its tourism and cultural infrastructure to attract visitors interested in authenticity, history and the atmosphere of the old town.
17 Arches Boutique Hotel Suites will fit seamlessly into this vision, offering travelers a rare opportunity to immerse themselves in the ambiance of the island’s thousand-year-old capital while enjoying modern comfort.
