Over 600 Tenders Held in Limassol in Last 6 Years

From 2017 to 2023, the Tender Committee of Limassol Municipality approved a total of 644 applications for the construction of various real estate projects. The total value of these projects exceeded 53 million euros.

This was announced on Friday, December 29, by the head of the authority, Averof Neofytou.

In addition, according to Neofytou, Limassol City Hall became "the only municipality in Cyprus that did not receive any lawsuits from applicants during the period under review." The committee head noted that the total value of the tenders announced in 2017 amounted to about €4 million, in 2018 to €12 million, in 2019 to about €5.5 million, in 2020 to about €3.5 million, in 2021 to about €10 million, in 2022 to about €13 million and in 2023 to about €5 million.

The list of the most significant projects approved by the 11-member commission included:

  1. A proposal for the repair and paving of roads in Limassol at a cost of €1.41 million plus VAT;
  2. A proposal for the reconstruction of roads and building facades in the historic part of the town at a cost of €1.99 million plus VAT;
  3. Proposal for the reconstruction of Misiaoulis and Kavazoglou Streets at a cost of €3.66 million plus VAT;
  4. Proposal for the realization of the project for the formation of Constitution Square worth 477 thousand euros plus VAT;
  5. Expansion of Garillis Linear Park at a cost of EUR 3.97 million plus VAT;
  6. Repair of sidewalks from natural wear and tear or excavations carried out by the various public utility authorities in Limassol at a cost of 780 thousand euros;
  7. Creation of ecological roads in the areas of Agios Spyridon - Omonia in Limassol, at a cost of €2.3 million plus VAT.

It should be noted that the most important projects launched in Limassol in 2023 were:

  1. Asphalt/local repairs and horizontal road markings in Limassol Municipality at a cost of €1.49 million plus VAT;
  2. Construction of the GSO Sports History Museum at a cost of approximately €1.5 million plus VAT.

In turn, among the most ambitious projects currently under consideration by the committee are:

Reconstruction of the area opposite the Eagle Stadium in Limassol Municipality, at an estimated cost of 720 thousand euros plus VAT;

Bid for the provision of landscaping services for the regeneration/modernization project of the park on Gauguin Street in Limassol, with an indicative value of €250 thousand plus VAT;

Bid for supply, installation and modernization of network infrastructure of Limassol Municipality, with an indicative value of 520 thousand euros.
