On Thursday 6 March, the Cyprus Environmental Protection Department issued a permit for the construction of a modern private clinic called MedCare in Nicosia.
According to the department, the new medical facility will be located in the Strovolos area.
The project involves the construction of a modern building that will include an intensive care unit, a nursing unit, a surgical unit and patient rooms. The total area of the project will be 1,771 m2. Of this
- 611 m2 will be used for technical rooms, staff changing rooms, food preparation and distribution areas in the basement;
- 369 m2 on the ground floor, which will include four patient rooms, an intensive care unit, doctors' offices and a cafeteria;
- 165.8 m2 will occupy the mezzanine floor, which will house four wards and doctors' offices for the nursing department;
- 312 m2 each on the second and third floors, which will house operating theatres, the chief physician's office, pre-anaesthesia/resuscitation preparation areas, sterilisation and storage areas.
For the convenience of staff and patients, the new clinic will have 30 parking spaces, including three for people with disabilities. The hospital will employ 27 people. It will be able to serve 20-30 people a day. At the same time, the hospital will be able to accommodate a maximum of 16 patients.
The cost of the project is estimated at 2.5 million euros. It will take about 18 months to complete. The project is expected to have a positive impact on the development of the medical sector in Cyprus.
