Construction has begun on a new modern multi-storey car park in Paralimni. The project is being carried out by Gabriel & Sons (Γαβριήλ & Υιοί ΛΤΔ).
The announcement was made by the local authorities on Thursday 3 April.
According to the release, the 3-storey car park will be located in a strategic location in the city centre, on Antonis Papadopoulos Street. The €6.76 million project is expected to help alleviate the shortage of parking spaces in Paralimni, improve mobility in the town and provide convenient access to the commercial centre.
The new car park will have 296 parking spaces, of which 17 will be reserved for disabled drivers and 3 for electric cars (with charging facilities). For the convenience of visitors, the car park will be equipped with a modern lift to provide easy access to all levels.
The project will take 18 months to complete. The aim is to have the facility operational by autumn 2026. The architects and project managers are specialists from AF MODINOS & SA VRAHIMIS CHARTERED ARCHITECTS & ENGINEERS.
The project is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Town Planning and Housing, which is covering 84% of the costs.
Paralimni Deryneia Municipality said that the new car park will significantly reduce the pressure on parking spaces, especially during the tourist season when the town receives thousands of visitors. In addition, the new car park is expected to boost commercial activity, as easy access to shops and restaurants will attract more shoppers and tourists.
The authorities are confident that this facility will be an important step in modernising the city's infrastructure and improving the quality of life for local residents.
