Larnaca Municipality has launched a tender for the rehabilitation of Makarios Avenue in the Livadia district.
The project includes the complete resurfacing of the road, pavements, parking areas, removal of old bus stops, road markings, installation of road signs, a modern storm water drainage system as well as a drainage system, landscaping and gardening around the entire avenue, installation of benches and street lighting.
The Mayor's Office noted that the project documentation was prepared by George Karas and Associates. Interested parties can apply to participate in the tender via the e-procurement system www.eprocurement.gov.cy. Further information can be obtained from the Tender Service of the Municipality on 24 816574.
The cost of the project is estimated at €2.5 million + VAT. It will take 24 months to complete. The works are scheduled to start in January 2025. The project will be co-financed by the Ministry of Town Planning and Housing and Communal Services.
It should be noted that Livadia is gradually becoming one of the fastest developing areas in Larnaca.
Many new residential and commercial projects are being built here. This has been facilitated by the dismantling of the oil storage tanks at the former oil refineries. In turn, the repeal of the Seveso Directive in May last year paved the way for the development of the vast area and attracted the interest of foreign investors.
