The Municipality of Nicosia has signed an important agreement with AM Andronikou. The signing ceremony took place recently at City Hall. The total cost of the works is estimated at €3.44 million, with the project expected to be completed within 18 months.
Which Buildings Will Be Renovated First
The first phase of reconstruction will focus on the facades of 89 buildings on Ledra and Onasagorou streets. The total facade area is approximately 20,000 m². The municipality emphasized that this is part of a broader program aimed at upgrading districts of the capital located near the buffer zone.

What Else Is Happening in the Old City
Work is currently underway on Konstantinou Palaiologou Street and at the multi-storey parking facility on Ariadne Street. Trikoupi Street is nearly completed, where a 38-meter graffiti artwork has been installed. Renovations are also ongoing around the old town hall and the Ochi and Agios Antonios markets. It is worth noting that Nicosia Mayor Charalambos Prountzos announced a large-scale reconstruction of the historic center with a budget of €28 million in early February.
A Linear Park Could Connect Two Parts of the City
The municipality has also submitted a proposal to the President of Cyprus to extend the Pedieos linear park toward the buffer zone and the occupied part of Nicosia. The idea has already received support from representatives of the northern part of the capital, as well as from the European Union and the United Nations.
