New private hospital will open in Limassol

The Cyprus Environment Ministry has granted permission for the construction of a new private hospital in Limassol.

The initiator of the project is the American Medical Centre. The new hospital is expected to be the best in the city.

According to the plan, a modern building with a total area of 12.9 thousand m2 will be built in the heart of Limassol, opposite the city's main police station and next to the technical school, to meet the needs of the new hospital.

The 10-storey block will include a first aid and emergency department, an intensive care unit, five operating theatres equipped with high-tech medical equipment, ancillary facilities and a helipad for emergency patient transport. The top three floors will house 34 comfortable wards with 68 beds. Each ward will have its own balcony with magnificent sea and city views. A 123-space car park will be built next to the building for the convenience of patients and staff, and the area around the building will be landscaped. The new hospital building will be environmentally friendly and energy efficient.

The private hospital will offer a wide range of services. These include

1. Medical examinations with full diagnostic control.
2. Emergency first aid.
3. Scheduled and emergency surgery.
4. Physical rehabilitation services following injury or surgery.
5. Intensive care for critically ill patients.
6. Accommodation of patients in comfortable wards.
7. Diagnostic equipment (X-rays, CT and MRI scans).
8. Nursing care with constant support and monitoring of the patient.
9. Round-the-clock medical supervision and treatment.
10. Work on the project will begin soon and should be completed in about a year and a half.

The American Medical Centre is located in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Since opening in 1999, it has

1. Successfully achieved ISO 9001:2008 accreditation;
2. Been recognised as the best care hospital in Cyprus;
3. Won a green building award - it is the first 'green' hospital on the island, with lots of flowers and ornamental trees in the corridors;

There is a helipad and a medical building on the 10,000 m2 site: 5 operating theatres, 30 departments, intensive care unit, 50-bed in-patient ward, canteen and cafeteria, library with books in various languages, prayer room. The building is new, built in 2011, and meets world standards.

Patients can be diagnosed and treated according to a personalised programme, based on the clinic's state-of-the-art technical equipment and the experience of its doctors. At the same time, they do not have to worry about everyday matters. The centre's staff will arrange visas, book hotel rooms for accompanying persons and arrange airport transfers.
