Limassol Municipality announced on Thursday 5 September that the deadline for the payment of the municipal property tax for 2024 is 30 September.
Those who fail to pay their bills on time will face a fine of 10 per cent of the amount originally assessed.
There are a number of ways in which residents can pay their debts:
- at the Tax Department office on Archbishop Kyprianou Street (next to Limassol Town Hall), Monday to Thursday from 8:00 to 13:30 and Friday from 8:00 to 13:00;
- online at www.limassol.org.cy and www.jccsmart.com.
Citizens who have not received a communication from the municipality are requested to make payment at the tax collection office at the above address. In the event of a change of postal address, property owners are obliged to inform the Town Hall.
As a reminder, the municipal tax is a local tax in Cyprus payable to the relevant municipality.
The basis of taxation is the market value of the property as at 1 January 2013. The tax rate varies from 0.1% to 0.2% and each municipality sets its own amount and payment deadlines. Failure to pay the tax on time results in fines that can be significant, e.g. in Limassol the fine is 10% of the unpaid amount. Municipal tax payments depend on the size of the property and range from €50 to €170 per year..
