The municipality of Ayia Napa has announced a tender for the construction of a new amphitheatre in Avgora. This is one of the most anticipated cultural projects in the region.

The total cost of the project is €1.48 million (excluding VAT).
The project will deliver a modern open-air amphitheater with 700 seats, with the option to expand to 1,000 seats. The new cultural space will be located on state-owned plot No. 230, as stipulated in lease agreement No. 64/10 of May 17, 2010, concluded with the local municipality.
The project includes an auditorium and stage, as well as all the supporting infrastructure:
- Changing rooms
- Sanitary facilities
- Cinema.
- Canteen
- Office space
- Ticket offices
- Park
- Landscaped area
The new amphitheatre will host a variety of cultural events, featuring local and international stars and groups. The project will be completed within 18 months of the start of construction.
Ayia Napa Mayor Christos Zanetou stated that the launch of the tender is a clear symbol of the municipality's unwavering commitment to sustainable development, cultural renewal, and the strengthening of social infrastructure.
Our commitment to cultural revival and active participation in the life of the local community is unwavering, as demonstrated by the amphitheater project in Avgorou. This is not just a new building, it is a cultural landmark that will breathe new life into the region," asserted the mayor.
He also recalled that the idea of creating an amphitheater arose several years ago on the initiative of local residents and is finally taking shape thanks to the THALEIA program and EU co-financing. Zanetto was clear in expressing his gratitude to the Directorate-General for Development and European Funds, as well as to all government agencies that provided support during the project preparation stages.
All interested economic operators are invited to participate in the tender procedure. It is clear that such projects leave a long-term mark – cultural, social and economic. We will continue to implement initiatives that bring benefits and development to our communities.
