Paphos Municipality starts the Park of Colours' construction.
It is expected to be the largest in the city and one of the largest in the whole of Cyprus.
The Mayor of Paphos signed on Friday, March 26 a contract with the Miltiades Neophytou Civil Engineering Contractors & Developers Ltd, which will be engaged in the improvement of the green area.
The cost of the new park, the area of which will be 32 thousand m2, is estimated at EUR 3,715,180. The project implementation period is 9 months.
According to the release, on the territory of Park of Colors will be created:
- cafe
- skate park
- tennis court
- Botanical Garden
- climbing wall, 3.6 meters high
- basketball court
- children's playground
- small soccer field
- several small squares
- open-air exhibition space
- sanitary zone
- parking for 83 cars, including for people lots for disabled people.
It is worth noting that special attention in the park will be given to the skateboard.
Young people have repeatedly addressed a similar request to the mayor of the city, and finally their wishes will be satisfied.
As you may know the author of the Park of Colours project is a team of architects, which included: Yorgos Onisiforou, Panayiotis Polemitis and Eleutherios Vomvolakis. They became winners of the architectural design competition in March last year. Among the many works presented, their project was recognized as the best by the plenum of the Paphos Municipal Council.
The name of the park was not chosen by accident. According to the architects, it is intended to remind people of the value and importance of paints in everyday life.
Other proposed names were Sustainability Park, Livelihood Park, Big Park, and Big City Park.
The Mayor of Paphos noted that the long-awaited arrangement of the park zone in the center of Paphos will have a positive effect on its development, and the new park will undoubtedly become a point of attraction for residents and guests of the city.
